We call them the Six Essentials: what you think, eat or drink, and how you rest, exercise and breathe. Making positive choices in these six essential areas allows us to avoid stress, pain and disease and live a healthy and balanced life.
What we think about plays a huge role in our health. Think about something that you really hate or something that really bothers you. It is actually possible to increase your heart rate, tense up your shoulders, bring on a headache, or make you sick to your stomach by just thinking about it. Or think of a time in your life that you were so happy or in love. Notice how that actually brings a smile to your face, slows down your breathing, creating an overall pleasant feeling. Your thinking (mental stress) can change the way your body functions. Depending on your thoughts that can be either positive or negative.
